At the beginning of this level, the student starts all the grammar topics. He/she can understand sentences and commonly used expressions associated with topics directly related to his/her direct circumstances (e.g. personal information or information about his/her family, shopping, work, immediate surroundings). This course is focuses on the fundamental elements of the German language within a cultural context. Emphasis is on the progressive development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond with increasing proficiency to spoken and written German as well.
